The  “Vin Fiz,” first airplane to land in Marion County, arrived on  September 30, 1911.  It was on its way to the West Coast on a promotional tour for the soft drink, “Vin Fiz,” when it landed in Marion near the present site of the Harding Memorial.  Interestingly enough, Warren G. Harding conducted an interview of the pilot at the site.
