SUMMARY:Linn School Opens for the Season
DESCRIPTION:Linn School is located approximately two miles north of Marion on Route 4. The one-room schoolhouse built in 1897 served students up to the eighth grade.  Rescued and restored through the partnership of the purchasers\, Merle and Oliver Hamilton\, and Quality Masonry Company\, Inc. In 2002\, the school was donated to the Marion County Historical Society. \nQuestions can be directed to the Marion County Historical Society\, 740-387-4255. \nAdmission to Linn School is $2.00 for adults and children in grades K-12\, and children under 5 are free \nLinn School is open on the 1st and 3rd weekends in May\, June & August; on the 2nd and 3rd weekends in July\, 1:00 pm -4:00 pm; and we also schedule tours by appointment through October.

DESCRIPTION:The 176th Marion County Fair will take place June 28 – July 4. The Marion County Historical Society will again give free tours at the Log House on Pioneer Green June 30-July 3. Since the pandemic\, we stopped hosting the traditional bake sale at the fair and moved to a “Non-Bake Sale Bake Sale.”  This method has proven successful\, so for the 7th annual event\, we are seeking your monetary support. Your donation helps with our operating costs and allows us to reinvest in the upkeep of the Log House. \nSo\, for 2026\, keep those ovens off and stay cool this summer while helping the MCHS with our mission of Collecting\, Preserving\, and Sharing Marion County History. \nYou can drop off a donation or mail a check to MCHS\, include “Bake Sale” in the memo\, 169 East Church Street\, Marion\, OH 43302.
