Description
MARION COUNTY – POSTCARD HISTORY SERIES
By Randy Winland
Published 2017, Softcover, Illustrated, 128 pp.
Marion County is home to seven incorporated villages as well as several other small communities. While the history of these locales may not be as well-known as the city of Marion, each still has a vibrant past that deserves to be remembered.
Local author and historian Randy Winland has compiled more than 200 postcard images from
his collection, as well as those of several other Marion area collectors, to compile a unique look back at the history of Marion County’s villages and communities. The book is divided into chapters focusing on Caledonia and Claridon Area; Green Camp and New Bloomington Area; Kirkpatrick and Martel Area; LaRue Area; Meeker and Morral Area; Prospect Area; and Waldo Area.
Many of the views are real-photo postcards which are actually pictures printed on a special postcard stock. These views may literally have been “one-of- a-kind” creations.
Winland is also available to give presentations on Marion and Marion County’s histories as seen
through postcards. He can be contacted at windyknoll54@yahoo.com
