In “The Doctors Sawyers’ Sanatoriums, Volume II,” author Randy Winland continues the story of three generations of Marion County physicians and the sanatoriums they built and operated. The journey begins in 1911 with the opening of the Sawyer Sanatorium at White Oaks Farm in Marion, Ohio. Over the next sixty years, Dr. Charles E. Sawyer, his son Dr. Carl W. Sawyer, and his grandson Dr. Warren C. Sawyer operated a healthcare Center that was unique for its facility design and treatment options. In addition to operating the sanatorium, the doctors played integral roles in the history of our nation as a result of their involvement with President Warren G. Harding and his legacy. The story concludes with the facility’s transformation into a public park owned and operated by the city of Marion.
